| The pumped storage plant Palmiet is located in the Western Cape near Gravouw, in South Africa’s first Biosphere Reserve and the heart of the fynbos plant kingdom.
Voith Hydro supplied, delivered and installed two pump turbine units including governors, startup equipment, spherical valves and other ancillary equipment.
The two machine sets consist of a single flow, single stage reversible Francis pump turbine, each with a turbine rated output of 203,5 MW with controllable distributor and a synchronous motor generator with a rated output of 250 MVA. The shaft is vertically arranged. The rated speed is 300 rpm in both directions of rotation. |
