| The project consists of 11 vertical Kaplan machines, 7 units of 7112 mm diameter and 4 units of 8204 mm diameter.
The project was awarded to Voith Hydro in January 1993. The final unit was re-commissioned in April 2003 and released in June 2003. All open technical and commercial items were completed in December 2003.
The project scope for units 1 to 7 included:
- model testing
- replacement of Kaplan runners with fish friendly enhancements
- new digital governors with hydraulic systems
- thrust bearing components with new high pressure lift system
- new wicket gate stem bearings
- in-place repair and remachining of the discharge rings
- rehabilitation of all turbine parts as needed
- installation and re-commissioning of the turbines
The project scope for units 8 to 11 was much more involved since these units were converted from fixed blade propeller units to Kaplan units. The supply for these units included:
- model testing of new Kaplan runners with operating servomotors and fish friendly enhancements
- speed limiters
- new oil head
- new turbine shafts
- new embedded discharge rings and bottom rings
- new thrust bearings with high pressure lift systems
- new digital governors with high pressure hydraulic systems
- new gate servomotors
- new self lube wicket gate stem bearings
- rehabilitation of all turbine parts as needed
- installation and re-commissioning of the turbines
